Few countries have had as much impact on the world as Germany. German inventors are responsible for the diesel engine, the printing press, contact lenses, the air bag, aspirin, the bicycle, the Christmas tree, kindergarten, gummi bears, and beer, among many others. Germany is also the birthplace of Martin Luther, Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, and the Brothers Grimm, each have left their mark in history in their own way.
Today, the barbarities of Nazi Germany are fortunately behind, and the country is home to about 90 million people including Germans and minorities of other nationalities that respect each other, and make Germany a country of values, unique celebrations, and customs.
As we approach the end of 2019 and reflect about our own personal successes and failures, strengths and weaknesses, we look at Germany as an example of a country reborn, wealthy and politically stable, and hope it continues to grow and prosper in peace, continuously protecting its freedom and unity.
